The Prison Project
Transforming Lives at the Deer Ridge Correctional Institution
Good Grief Guidance is very pleased to have established a presence at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution in Madras, Oregon. We volunteer our program weekly at their facility, and have found this to be a very worthwhile and gratifying experience.
The men who bravely step forward to deal with their issues of grief and loss are deeply engaged in the hero’s journey. They are inspirational in their willingness to be vulnerable in a prison setting and are taking responsibility for their actions; they are making every effort to learn how to positively contribute to their well-being and that of their families and communities. Many of them were born in grief; some of them are veterans; most of them have struggled with serious addictions; yet, every one of them sincerely wants to learn how to be better men and how to successfully manage in society once they are released from prison.
“Good Grief's cutting edge use of experiential, primary processes, guided imagery, weaving, journaling, poetry and myth writing, and meditation makes it a priceless program and a miracle in process for all who are able to attend." - Gerald K., Deer Ridge Correctional Institution
Help Support this Program
These dear men are highly motivated to heal their grief and create better lives for themselves and their loved ones. Through a mentored guidance process, they acknowledge grief as an obstacle to well-being and become empowered to find their own healthy way out of suffering into restoration.
Your support is a great gift to these men and their families as they learn how to thrive in the face of suffering. Every dollar donated will help up to 12 men finish our 16-week program. It's a true Hero's Journey that transforms every man and blesses every family.
Thank you for helping us to help them. Restoring relationships and community is central to restoring personal well-being. And that is the work and the joy of Good Grief! To support our vital work at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, please make a donation.
